As many of you may know, our dear friend and founding member of both the Gibraltar Cardiac Association and GiBricks, Keith Bautista, sadly passed away on 31st January 2024. Keith was champion in trying to improve of cardiac services in Gibraltar. In his memory, the Association in collaboration with Gibricks are bringing to life one of his most passionate projects: “Buy a Brick, Build a Heart.”
Keith always said there was an indirect link between both brick building and cardiac health; while brick building may not directly treat cardiac conditions, its role in stress reduction, motor skill rehabilitation, mental health support, and social interaction makes it an excellent therapeutic tool for cardiac patients. By engaging in an activity like this, patients can experience holistic benefits that support both their emotional well-being and, indirectly, their heart health.
This initiative, started by Keith, envisions the creation of a heart made entirely out of LEGO/building bricks. The heart will grow as large as our community’s generosity allows. For just £1 per brick, you can help us build this heart and keep his legacy alive, whilst supporting the Association’s fundraising efforts. You may purchase as many bricks as you wish.
This heart, which will be displayed at The Keith Bautista Building Bricks Expo 2025, will serve as a beautiful symbol of our collective efforts in memory of Keith and his dedication to improving cardiac health.
